A Quiet Return brings together photographs made in the winter landscapes of Japan, from quiet mountain villages and snow-covered forests to the wildlife of Hokkaido. During this journey, the Japanese ideas of ma and yūgen offered a new vocabulary for themes that have long shaped my work: space, mystery, stillness, and quiet reflection.
